Title: Neuromorphic localisation for the real-world

Abstract:
Neuromorphic vision systems aim to develop bio-inspired algorithms, sensors, and hardware that emulate biological learning and information processing. Despite a promising revolution and uptick in the adoption of neuromorphic technologies, real-world use cases are limited. In robotics, neuromorphic systems remain a highly viable option to reduce the computational- and energy-demands of visual localisation for size, weight, and power constrained platforms. In this talk, I will discuss recent efforts in the development and deployment of neuromorphic technologies for robotic localisation for the real-world and bringing it to the mainstream.
Bio:
Dr Adam Hines is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Modelling and Biorobotics at Macquarie University and a Visiting Fellow at the QUT Centre for Robotics. His research interest is in the development of neuro- and brain-inspired visual systems for artificial and robotic systems, with a key focus on practical and real-world capable solutions.
